Taylor's career as a musician stretched more than five decades. While not gaining the kind of mainstream success other artists did, she was beloved by blues fans.
Her hits included "Wang Dang Doodle" and tunes such as "What Kind of Man is This" and "I Got What It Takes."
Fellow legend Buddy Guy said of her passing: "What a loss to the blues world." The head of The Blues Foundation said even at her age, Taylor was still the best female blues singer in the world, just as she was when she started back in the 1950s.
