The King Cole Trio - Sweet Georgia Brown

Most people think of Nat King Cole as a popular entertainer. A STAR.

He certainly was all of that.

But he was also an extraordinary singer. I think he was the first singer to record an album entirely in Spanish. He also sang in French and in German. When he performed in the Philippines, he took the trouble to learn a romantic Filipino Kundiman - love song called DAHIL SA IYO, which means BECAUSE OF YOU. He sang it entirely in Filipino.

Nat King Cole was a formidable jazz pianist as well. This rendition of SWEET GEORGIA BROWN proves it.

He was also a wonderful human being. A beautiful individual inside and outside.

It was a tragedy for the world that we lost him much too early.
