New Orleans Musicians Need Your Help

Note:   The following letter was sent to me by Lester Perkins - who runs Jazz on the Tube.  If you're like me and love Jazz, you already know that New Orleans gave birth to the music we know as jazz.  But this didn't happen by accident - New Orleans is a unique place with a unique culture - and this musical culture is now at risk.  I urge you to watch the enclosed video and spread the word about this problem.

Dear Isabel,

Long time subscribers to "Jazz on the Tube" know of our devotion to New Orleans.

Bottom line - and I say this after being ignorant the first 45 years of my life - you can't really know
jazz, American music or even America itself if you  don't know New Orleans.

Nearly five year ago, we witnessed the horror of a city and people abandoned in the face of levee failures and flooding.

Today, an even bigger catastrophe is unfolding in the form of a reckless industry's unconscionable
"accident" in the Gulf of Mexico.

Lost in the news is a third New Orleans tragedy that WE CAN AVERT.

Please take a minute to watch this short video and if you believe in the message, please spread the
word.
